Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Tambopata wildlife center – Introductory walk, night walk.

    Our transfer will be waiting your arrivals at the Puerto Maldonado Airport or bus stations to transfer to our office, where you can repack and bring only what is necessary for the excursion. in case you have large suitcases, you can leave in our office.

    The adventure in the Amazon begins with a journey of an hour and a half by road, we say goodbye to the city to connect with nature, gradually we will immerse ourselves in the Amazon until we reach to Filadelfia port in Tambopata, here we board our motorized boat to our lodge, we will navigate Tambopata and Malinowski river for about 40 minutes, until we reach our lodge where you will be welcomed with an cold drink based on tropical fruits of the region. You will settle into your rooms and then we will have a delicious lunch.

    In the afternoon we will start our first activity with an introductory walk, we will have the first contact with the jungle, with our expert guide, we will go into the trails full of wildlife where we will be able to observe different species of flora and fauna such as howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, woodpeckers, insects, frogs and more.

    At nightfall, the guide will take us on a trail that starts at our lodge, for one hour we will enjoy an exciting night walk in the middle of the tropical jungle full of life. The night walk through the jungle gives you the unique opportunity to see the nocturnal wonders of the Amazon rainforest that are only active at this time. In deep darkness, surrounded by hundreds of jungle sounds and with the help of powerful lights, you enter a world inhabited by the most unique, diverse and shy creatures. Many animals, especially insects, amphibians and reptiles, hide from predators during the day. Now is the best time to find beautiful tree frogs, shy snakes and other jungle creatures that only come out at night. Day 2: Mammal Clay Lick, Sport Fishing Activity

    After breakfast, we immerse ourselves in the lush forest exploring the impressive wildlife with a walking in the rainforest trails with immense trees such as ceibas and shihuahuacos,palms,etc. After an approximate 40-minute walk we will arrive at the mammal clay lick, a natural mud setting that attracts many species of mammals, as well as: tapir, sajinos, deer, Brown aguti, howler monkeys, spider monkeys, etc. They come in groups or alone to this place to eat the clay that is necessary for their digestion and elimination of toxins since they find the minerals necessary for their diet. The chances of seeing them are around 60%, but it is worth the walk, return at the lodge for a lunch.

    In the afternoon we will explore the ichthyological wealth of the Amazon. This time we will navigate the Tambopata River in search of a variety of fish such as: catfish, pacos, boquichicos, damselfish, etc. Our expert guide will teach us the art of fishing and the different techniques they use to fish. Day 3: Chuncho Macaw – Canopy Tower

    This morning we will get up very early, to go to the Chuncho macaw clay lick, the clay licks are exposed clay areas where birds and mammals come to eat clay rich in minerals, the Chuncho macaw clay lick is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular of the Amazon, located on the cliffs in the reserved area. It is visited by 4 species of macaws: Red and green macaws (Ara chloropterus), blue and yellow macaws (Ara ararauna) and scarlet macaws (Ara macao) and chesnut macaw.

    To get there we will take a 30 min. trip by river in our motorized boat, on the way we will have an incredible opportunity to see wildlife such as the imposing jaguar (Panthera Onca), families of capybara (Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris) that swim and refresh themselves on the banks of the river, the black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) and sometimes the howler monkey that comes down to the banks to drink water. Once we arrive at the clay lick, we will settle in a suitable place for breakfast and enjoy the most beautiful natural spectacle of the bird life that brings together hundreds of macaws, parrots and parakeets that interact and socialize while eating the clay of the cliffs. We will wait for the arrival of these magnificent birds, which may appear in pairs or families from different parts of the forest. Return to the lodge for lunch and a rest.

    In the afternoon, we ascend the observation tower of 50 meters high, as you climb you will feel the adrenaline with every step, once you reach the top platform enjoy a breathtaking landscape framed by an endless sea of treetops, from this height we appreciate countless species of birds that are in constant activity, the treetops is also the favorite place of monkeys that are looking for food and many other species that live at this height of the forest. After that we return to our lodge enjoying a beautiful sunset by the Tambopata river, enjoy these beautiful landscapes while the sun sets.

Day 4: Sandoval Lake Sunset, Caiman Search

    After breakfast, we continue our expedition toward Sandoval Lake.
    We return to Puerto Maldonado, once in the city, we head to the Capitania port to board a motorized boat. The journey takes approximately 20 minutes along the Madre de Dios River until we reach Terra Verde Lodge, where we will be welcomed with a refreshing drink made from regional fruits.Our guide will provide all the necessary information for our stay, and after a short rest we will enjoy a delicious lunch.

    In the afternoon, we navigate along the Madre de Dios River until we arrive at the Sandoval check point, where we register our entrance.Here begin a 3 km (2-mile) hike, which takes about 45 minutes. Along the trail, we will have the opportunity to appreciate the natural beauty of this ecosystem, giant trees, medicinal plants, and dense forests that shelter an incredible variety of wildlife, such as colorful birds, eagles, woodpeckers, and several monkey species including howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, and capuchins.
    You may also spot deer, peccaries, sloths, anteaters, and more.

    This serene oxbow lake is home to diverse wildlife, including endangered giant river otters, red howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, capuchins, sloths, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, piranhas, side-neck turtles, black caimans, and many other species—an ideal place to enjoy a spectacular sunset.

    We return to the lodge along the same route. The journey back becomes even more exciting as darkness falls and we slowly navigate the river in search of black caimans and other creatures along the riverbanks.
