Day 1: Puerto Maldonado – Terra Verde Lodge, Introductory Walk, Night Walk

Arrival

    Our transfer will be waiting for your arrival at the airport or bus terminal in the city of Puerto Maldonado, to take you to our office, where you can repack and take only what is necessary for the excursion. If you have large suitcases, you can safely leave them at our office.

    Our adventure in the Amazon begins with a one and a half hour road trip, we say goodbye to the city to connect with nature, little by little we will immerse ourselves in the Amazon plain until we reach the port of Filadelfia in the upper Tambopata , here we board our motorized boat heading to our tourist lodge, We will sail the waters of the Tambopata and Malinowski rivers for about 40 minutes until we reach our tourist lodge where you will be welcomed with an ice-cold drink made from tropical fruits from the region. You will settle into your rooms and then we will have a delicious lunch.

    In the afternoon we will begin our first activity with an introductory walk where we will have the first contact with the jungle. Together with our expert guide, we will enter the trails full of  wildlife where we will be able to observe different species of flora and fauna such as howler monkeys, squirrel monkeys, toucans, woodpeckers, insects, frogs and more.

    At night, the guide will take us on a trail that leaves from our lodge for an exciting onehour night walk in the Amazon rainforest

    Our night jungle walk gives you the unique opportunity to see the nocturnal wonders of the Amazon rainforest. In deep darkness, surrounded by hundreds of jungle sounds and with the help of powerful lights, you enter a world inhabited by the most unique, diverse and shy creatures. Many animals, especially insects, amphibians and reptiles, hide from predators during the day. This means that nighttime is the best time to find beautiful tree frogs, shy snakes and other jungle creatures that only come out at night. From nocturnal monkeys to Poison Dart Frogs, from Tarantulas to Stick Insects, you never know what amazing creature you will encounter

DAY 2: VISIT MACAW CLAY LICK, CANOPY TOWER, TAMBOPATA RIVER SUNSET.

Arrive At The Macaw Clay Lick

    We got up very early to head out to the chuncho macaw clay lick . Clay licks are exposed areas where birds and mammals come to eat clay rich in minerals. Chuncho is undoubtedly one of the most spectacular clay licks in the Amazon, located on the cliffs within the reserved area. It is visited by 3 species of macaws such as: Red and green macaws (Arachloropterus ), blue and yellow macaws (Ara ararauna ), and scarlet macaw (Ara macao ).

    To get there we take a trip of approximately 30 minutes by river in our motorized boat, on the way we will have an incredible opportunity to see wildlife; as well as the imposing jaguar ( Panthera Onca ), families of ronsocos ( Hydrochoerus hydrochaeris ) that swim and cool off on the banks of the river, to the black caiman ( Melanosuchus niger ) and sometimes the howler monkey that comes down to the banks to drink water. Once we arrive at the collpa , we will settle in a suitable place for breakfast and be able to enjoy the most beautiful natural spectacle of the birdlife that brings together hundreds of macaws, parrots and parakeets that interact and socialize while eating the clay from the cliffs. We will wait for the arrival of these magnificent birds, they can appear in pairs or families from different sites in the forest. Return to the lodge for our lunch and then we will take a well-deserved rest.

    In the afternoon , we climb the 50-meter-high observation tower , where you can feel the adrenaline at every step. Once you reach the platform, you can enjoy an impressive landscape framed by an endless sea of treetops, the dense vegetation of the forest can be appreciated. After that, we return to our lodge enjoying a beautiful sunset by the Tambopta River.

DAY 3: JUNGLE WALK, VISIT TO QUIROZ LAKE

Ethnobotanical Walk And Observe More Fauna

    After breakfast, we visit Lake Quiroz, a paradise for wildlife lovers. Among the most notable species is the giant otter, one of the largest carnivores in South America and one of the most emblematic inhabitants of the lake. Its frolics and social behaviors are a spectacle that no visitor should miss.

    To get there, we take a 20-minute boat ride and a jungle walk of approximately 1 hour along the trails of the tropical forest with immense trees such as ceibas and shihuahuacos, etc. During the walk, enjoy the biodiversity of wild animal species, as well as: mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds, insects. Once we arrive, we begin to explore the scenic beauty and its immense aquatic biodiversity such as water turtles, black caimans, fish, herons, shanshos (prehistoric birds) and much more.

DAY 4: MAMMAL CLAY LICK, RETURN TO PUERTO MALDONADO

Arrive At The Mammal Clay Lick

    After breakfast, we head to the mammal clay lick , this place attracts many species of mammals, such as: tapir, tarucas, peccaries, deer, añujes , howler monkeys, etc. who come to this place to eat the clay, a tour through the trails of the tropical forest with huge trees such as ceibas and shihuahuacos , etc. The chances of seeing them are around 60%, but the walk is worth it. We return to the lodge
