TAMBOPATA: A HIDDEN PARADISE

Choose your most comfortable pair of walking shoes, fasten them and tie the laces well, because in Tambopata you will become one with your footwear.

This region, located in the southeast of Peru, keeps nature in its purest state.

Trees hugging each other, while herds of monkeys move from one place to another; you’ll hear in the background the sound of macaws nesting into the canopy of giant palm trees.

Your first stop will most likely be in the city of Puerto Maldonado, the capital of Madre de Dios.

Here, you will find a wide range of lodging options for you to choose according to your needs. Once installed in this city, take the opportunity to learn a little of the local customs and some of the most important places in the city.

You should not miss the Biodiversity Viewpoint (OBELISCO), located less than two Kilometers from the main square (commonly known as “plaza de armas”) or the Tambopata Butterfly Farm, where you can witness unique specimens. 10 minutes from Puerto Maldonado, begins the Bajo Isuyama Tourist Corridor, where CRCAS (Center for Rehabilitation and Conservation of Wild Animals) is located, created in 2007 by the NGO Amazon Shelter led by Magali Salinas.

All of the above are guaranteed to leave a lasting impression and memory. That said, you still haven’t seen the best that awaits you; the sanctuary full of magic and nature.

The Tambopata National Reserve is described as an idyllic place, where nature meets with you in every step you take. It is regarded globally as one of the most biologically diverse regions in the world.

Besides being a necessary trip for biology lovers, it’s also a must-go destination for adventurers: travel to the Sandoval Lake, where you can take a boat ride and witness the chuncho macaw and red-colored macaw clay lick in its most natural state.
